Spelling

In our first grade classroom we use a program called Spelling City. It is a fun and engaging way for your student to study their spelling words at home! This program is proven effective and used by tens of thousands of parents and teachers globally. Here are some of the reasons why we use such a great resource in our classroom.

 Every Friday your student will take a spelling test using this program. This is all done digitally in the Technology room. You will get an email within minutes detailing their grade and if any words were missed. If I see a student score anything below 80% I have them retake the test in paper. I also have some friends that have a very difficult time taking their test online so we simply do a paper test.

Spelling City will be used at home for spelling homework. I also have a Spelling Bingo sheet that they can do instead if technology is difficult to use when they are at home. I will send both home and you may choose which is best for your family.
