Back to School Information

Hello Neuse Families!

I am so happy I got to meet you all during Open House. There was a lot of information sent home so I hope you were able to spend some time looking over it and browse through the blog for any information.
First grade is a very hard year for most students. They come in as little kids needing help with almost everything. However, I promise you that by the end of the year they will be mature little students who know how to walk in a line, read, and know the ins and outs of our classroom procedures!
We will be having a parent information meeting on August 28 at 5:30. This will be a time where we will go over our curriculum and also what to expect in first grade for your student. I hope you are able to make it.

A few tips for this upcoming week:

* Please make sure to send your student with extra water. We do not have a fountain in our classroom and they are not allowed to go get a drink of water by themselves down the hall (we would have to take the whole class for just one student to get a drink).

* Please make sure that you send your child with food that they are able to open up by themselves. I know this seems a little odd but when I have 25 students asking me to open up their food for them that could take up most of our lunch time. Thank you in advance!

* Please do not send your child with food that needs to be heated up. I am not allowed to do that due to our school policy. I apologize if this is an inconvenience for you.

* On my school supply tab I asked for no rolling back packs. We do not have room in our cubbies for these and it is a safety hazard if we have them stacked against a wall.

If you have any questions please fell free to email me. I look forward to seeing your student tomorrow!

First Grade 2017-2018 School Year

Hello Neuse families!

If you are here from the school website, welcome to my first grade classroom! Please take a minute to look around and acquaint yourself with how I run my classroom. If you notice, I stopped posting in January. My families and I decided that it was easier to email information for the rest of the year instead of putting it on the blog. This year, I will be blogging every week AND also sending weekly emails to let you know of any updates happening in my classroom. I will also begin posting pictures and activities throughout the year to show what we are doing in our classroom. In the beginning of the year packet, I will be sending home a photo release for my blog. Please remember that I will NOT post names with these pictures.

Supply lists have been posted online. You may click on the Supply List tab up on top of the blog for information. I added a few items that are specific to my classroom. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me!

I am SO excited for this coming new year and I can't wait to meet you and your child! The first day of school will be August 14, 2017. Meet the teacher night will be held August 10, 2017. As we get closer to the date I will also post the time. This night is a chance for you and your child to come and orient yourself with my classroom and to fill out any paperwork that I have. This is also a GREAT time to bring in all of your school supplies. I recommend to bring them in a box or paper bag with your child's name on the outside. We use community supplies in my classroom so names are not necessary on the items. Any items that are specific for Specials, place items in separate bags and deliver them to each specific classroom. If they are left in our classroom, they tend to be mixed in with our supplies. Especially if they are not labeled with the teachers name.  Thank you and I look forward to meeting your student!
