Our state
has adopted the Common Core State Standards. These standards reflect
the knowledge and skills students need in order to be successful in
college and careers. The standards are clearly organized and detail
specific learning targets to be mastered at each grade level so we can
be sure all students make adequate yearly progress toward these goals.
As parents, you play an essential role in helping your children meet these standards. Provide time and space for your child to read independently. Figure out what topics, events, or activities he or she likes and look for books about those topics to motivate reading. Remember that learning should be fun and a stress-free experience. If your child seems to be struggling please do not hesitate to contact me so we can come up with a plan and set reachable goals.
Thank you for taking the time to learn the standards we use to guide our instruction. I appreciate all you do to help support your child's learning!
